It is June 1, 1927, and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Andrew Borden, the main suspect in the August 4, 1892, axe murders of her father and stepmother, has died from pneumonia in Fall River, Massachusetts. She has died in her beloved mansion, Maplecroft, and she has left a faded handwritten letter. It is addressed to four persons: The City Marshal who was key in the investigation of the double homicide, one of her trial judges, a News Reporter, and a Neighbor of the Borden family, collectively known as the “Truth Seekers” or “Seekers.”
The letter reads in part:
Catch my spirit before it departs this earth & I will admit my true role in the crimes.

ABOUT
Fall River, Mass., 1927: Elizabeth “Lizzie” Andrew Borden has died; she remains the main suspect in the August 4, 1892, ax murders of her father and stepmother. One player takes the role of Lizzie Borden. The remaining take the roles of City Marshal, Judge, Neighbor Lady, and News Reporter, called the “Truth Seekers.” The Seekers move room to room while picking up Victorian-age equipment to capture Lizzie’s ghost as it travels the scene of the crime: the Borden home.
GAME PLAY
Players move across the game board using dice and Rumor cards. The game board is a map of the Borden home, Fall River, Massachusetts, circa late 1800s. This is the site of the 1892 murders.
Seekers gather 19th century paranormal seeking equipment (such as an amulet, a clairvoyant, and sage smudge) for capturing Lizzie’s ghost. The Seekers move room to room through mapped doorways using dice and Rumor cards.
Each room and noted areas have a “Hot Spot,” or haunting. Lizzie moves in secret using the Hot Spot location cards. By various means, the Seekers attempt to deduce and uncover Lizzie’s location, overcoming obstacles she has placed along the way and requesting “clues." When they find her, Lizzie produces an Evasion card in an effort to repel one of the Seeker's Equipment cards. Will she evade capture? Or will her Evasion card be useless?
The Seekers win if they capture Lizzie using equipment Lizzie cannot evade, making Lizzie guilty of the crimes. Lizzie is declared innocent and wins if she haunts five Hot Spots without capture.
The game equipment cards shown above are concepts.

ABOUT THE TEAM
Game creator Judith A. Yates has gathered a team of talented, diverse women from all over the globe to work together in this project.
Less than 85% of game builders are females. Females of color and ethnicities (other than "White American") make up even a smaller amount of game creators.
Women in Lizzie Borden's time had few rights, followed strict etiquette regimes and were very limited in employment.
The ladies on this team are breaking barriers and using their skills as talented, individual artists, technical advisors, writers, and software experts.
